Like many of the photo essays I initiated while working at small and large market newspapers, most of this work was done on my own time. Often newspaper deadlines work against the photojournalist, which is one of the reasons I come up with my own stories ideas. I can keep my work under wraps for awhile before the editorial forces begin demanding something to feed the damn press. Looking back on this, I think people can become radicalized when skilled individuals manipulate humans.
